Mineral element feed additive Magnesium oxide.

As feed additive: Magnesium oxide is mainly used in dairy cattle feed, followed by pig and chicken feed. Magnesium is the main intracellular cation as a coenzyme factor for enzymatic reactions, involved in the main metabolic pathways in vivo, and extracellular magnesium is essential for normal nerve conduction, muscle contraction and skeletal mineral deposition in animal organism.

Utility for dairy cows: Magnesium oxide is the most widely used inorganic magnesium source in ruminant feed, which is an alkalizing agent to improve rumen pH, which can improve the uptake of blood metabolites by mammary glands and increase milk fat rate. Research shows that baking soda and magnesium oxide added in the diet in proportion can effectively adjust the rumen fluid pH, so that cows have a better rumen internal environment, to obtain the best production performance and feed conversion efficiency, thus improving milk production.

The function of chickens: newborn chicks can only survive for a few days when fed a diet completely deficient in magnesium. When feeding low magnesium diet, the chicks will grow slowly, lethargy, panting, shortness of breath, and will show short time spasm after being frightened, and finally lead to temporary coma or death. For laying hens, the egg production will drop rapidly when magnesium deficiency. Low blood magnesium causes a large amount of magnesium use in bones, smaller eggs, lighter eggshells, and a decrease in magnesium concentration in yolk and eggshell. Research proves that the thicker the eggshell, the higher the concentration of magnesium in the eggshell, so properly increase the concentration of magnesium in the diet of laying hens can improve eggshell quality and increase egg weight.

The function for pigs: due to the continuous improvement of pig breed and productivity, the nutritional need of magnesium should be improved accordingly. Growing and fattening pigs fed diets with magnesium oxide can improve growth rate and pork quality, including pork pH, color, and reduce PSE pork.
