Activated magnesium oxide precipitated cobalt recovery rate up to 99%

For a local wet smelter in the Congo (gold) containing cobalt copper extract residue neutralization, after the removal of impurity liquid, Hebei Messi Biology Co., Ltd. studied the effect of magnesium oxide cobalt sink under different conditions, came to a temperature of about 50 ℃, reaction time of 4h, the end point pH 8.0, the use of magnesium oxide slurry for cobalt sink the best effect, the resulting grade of cobalt hydroxide is higher than 36%, cobalt recovery rate is greater than 99%, magnesium oxide utilization rate can reach 91%.

The Zambian-DRC copper-cobalt belt in Africa is famous all over the world and is the third largest copper belt in the world after the Andes in South America (Chile, Peru and Argentina) and Mexico in the southwestern part of the United States in North America, and the cobalt reserves are highly concentrated in the DRC, which is the world leader. At present, the copper ore mined in DRC is mainly surface oxidized copper and cobalt polymetallic ore, therefore, the production of copper mostly adopts the wet process. 2013 DRC wet refining output has been recognized to 940,000 tons, in recent years, with the further increase of domestic and foreign mining and metallurgical enterprises in DRC investment, wet refining copper output has a trend of further substantial growth.

The wet production process of copper in DRC is generally “ore leaching (heap leaching or stirring leaching), extraction and electrowinning”, in which copper leaching process mostly uses sulfur dioxide or sodium sulfite as a rejuvenator to leach cobalt, and the sulfuric acid solution containing copper and cobalt is extracted and...
